I have a couple of bits of scifi news for you, should you be at all interested.

Firstly, fans of Star Trek living in the US and Canada will be interested to know that Netflix has obtained the rights to add the entire televised run of Star Trek shows to its Watch Instantly service. From July you'll be able to watch the original series, The Next Generation, Voyager and Enterprise through Netflix, with DS9 being added in October. What's more the original series and Enterprise will both be available in HD! We're living the dream.

Don't think I've forgotten about you, Brits. The next piece of news is that Red Dwarf, my favourite scifi series of all time, has been picked up for a tenth series by Dave! That's the channel, not some random guy. It looks like they're aiming to get back in front of a studio audience, which is almost a shame considering how well "Back to Earth" worked without one, but I'm hardly going to complain about that considering how well that cast works with an audience.

What else? Oh yes, series six of Doctor Who starts in just under two weeks, but then you already knew about that, didn't you?

Edit: American readers may also be interested to know that both seasons Hyperdrive, the BBC's most recent attempt at a scifi-comedy series starring Shaun of the Dead star Nick Frost, is now up on Netflix Instant Watch in its entirety. I wrote about Hyperdrive a couple of weeks ago - it's a good attempt at creating a consistent scifi world, but it falls down where the comedy comes into play. There are moments of occasional brilliance, though. Well worth looking into. After all, it won't cost you anything.
