So you know that "Americanize Jump Leads" competition I mentioned a couple of weeks ago? Well, it's still going. We've had a couple of really cool entries, and we've still got time before the contest closes - which is when the book goes to print.

As a rerminder, here's what you have to do: Take a page of Jump Leads, and just... Americanize the dialogue. it's as easy as that. Email your entries to me, and the best three entries will win a copy of Jump Leads Vol.1: Tales From The Flurry. For free.

Yeah. I'm nice like that.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I like the British dialogue. Then again, I was watching Britcoms and Masterpiece Theater when most of my peers were watching TRL, so what the heck do I know?

Ben's just having a bit of fun. He's not actually going to redub Jump Leads to pander to American audiences. The dialogue is pretty uncolloquial to begin with. It should be fun to see Mametized or Tarantinofied or (God help us) Faulknerated versions of Meaney and Llewellyn. Unfortunately I can't write anything creative right now; my current assignment has the word "shall" in every sentence.

Yep, this is all in good fun - I'm not going to change the comic, although I'd be lying if I said that this competition wasn't inspired by a relatively recent "suggestion" from someone interested in the comic.

"Suggestion?" You mean a troll, right?

Did you actually write a TV pilot script? Can we read it?

@Syckls: I'm sure I couldn't comment.

@Catherine: I did. It's more or less identical to Issue #1 as it appears on the website, but I've spent some time retooling it in the hopes that I can one day pitch it to someone here in the States who won't rip all of the soul and Britishness out of the concept.

Heh. I feel like a gullible idiot. :-P

It's actually quite simple, Ben. Simply drop all the extraneous "u"s. Color not colour. Behavior not behaviour. Truck not lorrie. And remember, E's before R's, except when on Mars.

please, PLEASE don't "americanize" anything! Need I remind you of the evil you could potentially create? Remember the "amercianizing" of Red Dwarf?!

I love this comic for the fact that it's not hip hopped, dumbed down, etc that happens to most Japanese offerings that are "regionalized".

I beg of you, as an American, if Lend Lease, WWII and keeping the Sov's out of Europe during the Cold War means anything to you at all, don't do it!Smiley
