Yesterday I caved. I cancelled my Amazon pre-order for the Rock Band 2 bundle with the new guitar and drumkit, and swung by Best Buy on my way home to pick up a copy of the standalone game and one of the new guitars. I've been obsessed with musical rhythm games since Guitar Hero II came out back when I was still living in England, recently taking an interest in older games in the genre such as Parappa the Rapper, Gitaroo Man and, Glod help me, Dance Dance Revolution.

I absolutely love Rock Band 2. It just has so many little tweaks and improvements over the original that I really adore, and having had the opportunity to try Guitar Hero IV at this year's PAX, I reckon I can get away with saying that RB2 is definitely the superior product. I spent quite a while playing the Band World Tour on my own last night, and somehow that doesn't seem right to me. So here's what i want to do - I want to find three like-minded, suitably awesome people who wouldn't mind forming a sort-of Jump Leads band and playing the World Tour over Xbox Live.

How would that work? Well for a start you'd have to have an Xbox 360, an Xbox Live gold membership, a copy of Rock Band 2 and whatever instrument you'd want to play. It'd also help if you had the first Rock Band and had imported your songs over, but that's not so important. Once we have a band of four people (myself included obviously) we'd coordinate via email to find the best times during the week to Rock Out.

I'm not opposed to the idea of there being a small network of JL-affiliated bands, either, especially as there's that whole Battle Of The Bands thing. After all, there are webcomics out there with WoW guilds and Space Pirates alliances. Why not make Rock Band 2 our game?

If you're interested in rocking out Jump Leads style, drop me an email.

Edit: I figure it might be an idea to share my Xbox Live gamertag with you all.

I used to love Parappa the Rapper. It was the only game which made me regret not owning a Playstation...

"Kick, Punch, Block,
It's all in the mind,
If you want to test me,
I'm sure you'll find,
The things I'll teach you,
I'm sure to beat ya,
But never the less,
you'll get a lesson from teacher!
Now..."
