Hello!
Welcome to the webcomic that has been a year in the making. It's been a rough ride. The original seeds of the idea were planted in my brain back in May 2006 and by the following July I had the characters and basic premise down. From there it's been a bit of a task. I wrote the pilot script. I asked a couple of friends if they were interested in writing scripts for the comic. And, after it became woefully clear that drawing it myself was no longer an option (due mostly to the fact that I have all the artistic talent of a telephone pole on one of its less talented days), I began hunting for an artist.
That's a hunt that went on for the better part of eleven months.
During that time I sent the pilot script to the BBC. They loved it, but they don't do scifi-comedy often;
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was 1981,
Red Dwarf started in 1988, and
Hyperdrive started in 2006, so I reckon that the BBC will be ready for it by 2022. Hey ho - my search for an artist continued.
I had all but given up when a friend of mine,
Bonz, suggested getting in touch with an artist by the name of JjAR who might be up for this sort of thing. He was, and before I knew it the first concept art and pages started rolling into my inbox. It was magnificent. All of it.
I was stunned. I'd found an artist, and he was fantastic.
So here we are. Over one year later and Jump Leads is here. The update schedule is still rather loose but we're aiming for one page a week, every Friday, with occasional double-whamees. This week we've got the cover and first two pages of issue one, which you may want to
check out at your leisure. We also have a
forum which is ostensibly
good, so do pop by and say "Hello".
I hope you enjoy Jump Leads. It's going to be fantastic.
