I tend to do that sort 'o thing as well. Halfway through editing the first Vatsy and Bruno, I had to weed out all the words that were capitalized for no grammatically explicable reason.

Some words just...need a bit of extra reverence. By capitalizing them to a proper noun, you draw more attention to them, elevate them slightly, call attention to the fact that in this universe (or Universe, as the case may be), to these characters, this Thing is important.
